How it works at Walgreens

  • At a staffed Blue Rhino display, Blue Rhino says to leave your empty tank at the outdoor display, pay inside, and a store associate will bring you a full tank. Never take a propane tank inside the store.[2]
  • You do not need an empty to trade: Blue Rhino says you can get a full tank with or without exchanging one. See a store employee to buy one outright.[2]
  • Blue Rhino accepts any brand of standard grill tank in exchange, as long as it is in acceptable condition, and its own tanks hold a net 15 pounds of propane.[3][4]
